Geography of India (भारत का भूगोल)
Note: There shall be nine questions in all. The candidates have to attempt five questions including Question 1 which is compulsory comprising six short questions to be answered in 15-20 words each. In addition the candidates have to attempt four more questions selecting at least one from each section. All questions carry equal marks.
नोट: कुल नौ प्रश्न होंगे। अभ्यर्थियों को पांच प्रश्न हल करने होंगे। प्रश्न 1 अनिवार्य है जिसमें छह लघु उत्तर वाले प्रश्न होंगे जिनका उत्तर 15-20 शब्दों में देना होगा। इसके अलावा अभ्यर्थियों को प्रत्येक अनुभाग (Unit) से कम से कम एक प्रश्न का चयन करते हुए चार और प्रश्नों के उत्तर देने होंगे। सभी प्रश्न समान अंक के होंगे।
SECTION- A
1. India (भारत): Location (स्थिति), Relief Structure (उच्चावचीय संरचना) and Drainage Systems (अपवाह तंत्र): Indus River System (सिन्धु नदी तंत्र), Ganga River System(गंगा नदी तंत्र), Brahmaputra River System (ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी तंत्र), Peninsular River System (प्रायद्वीपीय नदी तंत्र).
2. Climate (जलवायु), Soils (मिट्टियाँ), Natural Vegetation (प्राकृतिक वनस्पति), and Natural Disasters in India (भारत में प्राकृतिक आपदाएं).
SECTION – B
3. Population (जनसंख्या ): Distribution (वितरण), Density (घनत्व), Growth (वृद्धि) and Composition (संघटन).
4. Migration(प्रवास), Human Settlement Types (मानवीय बस्तियों के प्रकार) and Levels of Urbanization (नगरीकरण का स्तर).

5. Land Resources (भूमि संसाधन), Irrigation (सिचाईं), Regional Variations in Cropping Pattern (फसल प्रतिरूप की प्रादेशिक विविधताएँ),
Green revolution (हरित क्रांति) and Problems of Indian Agriculture (भारतीय कृषि की समस्याएँ).
6. Energy and Mineral Resources (ऊर्जा एवं खनिज संसाधन): Coal (कोयला), Petroleum (पट्रोलियम), Hydroelectricity (जल विद्युत् शक्ति) and Nuclear Energy (नाभिकीय ऊर्जा), Iron Ore (लौह-अयस्क), Manganese (मैंगनीज) and Mica (अभ्रक).

7. Industries (ऊद्योग) – उद्योगों की स्थिति को प्रभावित करने वाले कारक (Factors Affecting Location of Industries), Iron and Steel (लौह एवं इस्पात), Cotton Textile (सूती वस्त्र), Sugar (चीनी) and Petrochemical Industries (पेट्रोकेमिकल उद्योग); and Industrial Regions of India (भारत के औद्योगिक प्रदेश).
8. Modes of Transport and Communication (परिवहन और संचार के साधन): रेल परिवहन (Rail Transport), International Trade (अंतर्राष्ट्रीय व्यापार), Changing Pattern of Export and Import (आयात और निर्यात का बदलता प्रतिरूप).
