Population Geography (जनसंख्या भूगोल)

Note: There shall be nine questions in all. Question no. I shall be-compulsory, consisting of six short answer type questions covering the entire syllabus. Two questions will be asked from each unit. Students will have to attempt one question from each unit. All questions shall carry equal marks. 

नोट: परीक्षा में कुल नौ प्रश्न होंगे। प्रश्न 1 में पूरे पाठ्यक्रम से छह लघु उत्तर वाले प्रश्न पूछे जाएंगे जो अनिवार्य होंगे। इसके अतिरिक्त प्रत्येक इकाई (Unit) से दो प्रश्न पूछे जायेंगे। छात्रों को प्रत्येक इकाई से एक प्रश्न का उत्तर देना होगा। सभी प्रश्नों के अंक समान होंगे।

Unit I (इकाई -I)

• Population Geography (जनसंख्या भूगोल): Definition (परिभाषा), Nature (प्रकृति), and Scope (विषयक्षेत्र) 

• Sources of Data with Special Reference to India (भारत के संदर्भ में जनसंख्या आंकड़ों के स्त्रोत):  जनसंख्या आंकडों के प्रकार (Types of Population Data), प्राथमिक आंकड़ों के संग्रहण की विधियाँ (Methods of Collection of Primary Data), द्वितीयक आंकड़ों के स्त्रोत (Sources of Secondary Data): Census (जनगणना), Vital Statistics and National Sample Survey (राष्ट्रीय नमूना सर्वेक्षण) 

Unit II (इकाई -II)

• Population Size (जनसंख्या आकार)

• Distribution Growth (जनसंख्या वृद्धि): Population Change (जनसंख्या परिवर्तन), Population Growth (जनसंख्या वृद्धि)

• Determinants of Population Distribution and Density (जनसंख्या के वितरण एवं घनत्व को निर्धारक)

• Population Distribution (जनसंख्या वितरण): Population Distribution in the World (विश्व में जनसंख्या का वितरण)

• Theories of Population Growth (जनसंख्या वृद्धि  के सिद्धांत): Malthusian Theory of Population (माल्थस का जनसंख्या सिद्धांत), Demographic Transition Theory (जनांकिकीय संक्रमण सिद्धांत)

Unit III (इकाई -III)

• Fertility (प्रजननता या जन्म दर): Measurement of Fertility (प्रजननता की माप), Determents of Fertility (प्रजननता के निर्धारक)

• Mortality (मर्त्यता या मृत्यु दर ): Measurement of Mortality (मर्त्यता की माप), Determents of Mortality (मर्त्यता के निर्धारक)

• Population Migration (जनसंख्या प्रवास): Types of migration (प्रवास के प्रकार), Causes of Migration (प्रवास के कारण), Implications of Migration

Unit IV (इकाई -IV)

• Population Composition and Characteristics (जनसंख्या की संरचना एवं विशेषताएँ): Meaning and Characteristics of Population Composition (जनसंख्या संघटन का अर्थ एवं विशेषताएँ)

• Age-Sex Composition (आयु-लिंग संरचना) : Sex Composition (लिंग संघटन), Types of Sex Ratio (लिंगानुपात के प्रकार), Age Composition (आयु संघटन), Age Pyramid (आयु संघटन), Age Indices (आयु सूचकांक), Median Age (माध्यिका आयु)

• Rural and Urban Composition (ग्रामीण एवं शहरी संरचना)

• Literacy (साक्षरता)

• Contemporary Issues:  Ageing of Population, Declining Sex Ratio.
