पर्वत एवं उनका वर्गीकरण (Mountains and their Classification)
पर्वत श्रेणी (Mountain range)
एक ही काल में निर्मित तथा एक सँकरी पेटी में विस्तृत पर्वत एवं पहाड़ियों के क्रम को पर्वत श्रेणी (Mountain range) कहते हैं। इसमें अनेक पर्वत शिखर व घाटियाँ मिलती हैं।
पर्वत श्रृंखला (Mountain chain)
भिन्न-भिन्न कालों में बनी समानान्तर श्रेणियाँ व एकाकी पर्वत मिलकर पर्वत श्रृंखला (Mountain chain) बनाते हैं।
पर्वत समूह (Mountain group)
एक पर्वत तंत्रों का ऐसा समू, जिसमें कई युगों में बने पर्वत व पहाड़ियाँ पायी जाती हैं पर्वत समूह (Mountain group) कहलाता है।
कार्डिलेरा (Cordillera)
कार्डिलेरा (Cordillera) के अंतर्गत कई पर्वत समूह व पर्वत तंत्र शामिल किए जाते हैं। उत्तरी अमेरिका का प्रशांत तटीय पर्वतीय भाग रॉकी कार्डिलेरा इसका प्रमुख उदाहरण है।
Otto Schluter
Otto Schluter (1872-1952) from Germany was a geographer who had different ideas about what geography should focus on. While many geographers saw geography as the study of different areas of the Earth, Schluter and others felt that geography should have a clear subject of study and not just be defined by its method.
